This is probably one of their best albums. All of their songs are unique, especially pressure, dig down, dark side, and more. This album was a change in the way muse performs, but not a bad one.
  • Love all their album, but this isn’t an exception.

Most songs sound awful compared to their past albums. The only got song has to be The Dark Side. I’m still going to go see them to hopefully see them play some of their past songs as this albums as 30 minutes of music.

When I first heard this album, I hated it, besides Dark Side, Pressure, and Thought Contagion. I thought the rest was too pop. When I listened to it more, I liked it more. I remembered this was the Muse I’ve always loved. And now, it’s in my top 3 muse albums. I LOVED DRONES! Some people hate drones, I don’t see why. But Simulation Theory was pretty good.
  • Muse does it again!

I really enjoyed this album! Such a cool and different feel to it while still being the Muse I love

I've been a Muse fan for about 15 years now. As I've grown older and matured, so to has my taste in music. Muse has shapeshifted over the years in to different shapes and sounds, and sometimes it's clicked with what I like, sometimes it hasn't. The Resistance was hit or miss with me, I mostly enjoyed 2nd Law, and Drones was maybe 50/50. Regardless, with time and many listens, all of those albums (or at least some/most of the songs) have grown on me enough to not be offensive to my ears. Simulation Theory is a weird album because many of the songs are the most non-Muse sounding Muse songs I've ever heard. On my first listen I was a bit shocked and even laughed at how bad I'd initially thought some of the songs were. The idea of "dance songs" you can groove to from albums like Black Holes takes on a whole new meaning here with some of these. Even still, they're catchy as hell and after a few listens, I found myself humming them as I went through my day. This album excels as background music to your day. I put it on when I'm working, I put it on when I'm cleaning, I put it on when I'm driving. Very few of the individual songs stand out as masterpieces on their own, but this is one of those albums that flows well as a whole and keeps you moving. Sure, this isn't Showbiz or Absolution any more - but for what it is, it's well made and goes down very smooth. Just pretend it isn't Muse if you're too hung up on their old work and accept it for what it is. It certainly won't be for everyone, but I think it stands on it's own quite well.
  • I love it!!

Very Tron-like. Anyone getting Daft Punk vibes?

At first, I was quite apprehensive and frankly, put off by the overuse of synths and eltronica that is used throughout this album. But after 3 listens front to back I am quite amazed by the songwriting and production that went into this 80’s themed masterpiece. Muse always sets the bar higher and higher each and every time they put out a new album. Simulation Theory is no exception and I think the only duds are Pressure and Something Human (which I say only because they're so different from the rest of the tracks. Overall, I am impressed and can see myself listening to this years from now.

Was an interesting band when they sounded different from anything else. Now they sound like mostly everything else.
