This is a good album
This is total garbage. Generic horse crap.
This is one of DH's best albums yet! It's brutally heavy, and at the same time more sophisticated than some of their earlier works. It feels like a blend of The World Is A Thorn and Outlive, with a bit of True Defiance thrown in for good measure. Overall, 9/10 stars. Note: if I could only choose one of their two albums to have, I might go with Peace, which feels stronger lyrically. But then again, I prefer the slightly softer stuff, so I'm biased.
Song by song:
1: Cut to Fit 9/10
Here we have one of the best songs on the album to start us off. I'm a sucker for the more rhythmic guitars in the verses.
2: On My Side 10/10
Love the heavy guitars and drums contrasted with Ryan's softer vocals. The message is also one of the best on the album.
3: Close Enough 8/10
I like the more wailing guitars on this one.
4: Unbound 8/10
By far the heaviest song yet, at least vocally. Feels straight of The World Is A Thorn.
5: Grey Matter 10/10
Softens the sound a bit, but I love the staccato guitars in the verse.
6: The Negative 9/10
I love the chorus on this one.
7: Ash 10/10
I would call this the heaviest song on the album. The song gets even better after the second chorus.
8: No Place For You Here 9/10
Softer than Ash and Unbound, but still heavy.
9: Leave Me Alone 9/10
Softer than most of the album, and a little deeper lyrically.
10: Lesser Gods 9/10
An awesome closing song, with a long intro, which I like.
War was a very good album, peace was okay, but it was still good. This is probably the most underrated band to have ever existed.
War Not Peace
By Team GoodWolf Productions
Peace sucked, aside from that one piano ballad. War, on the other hand, is actually a Demon Hunter albums. It's certainly not their best, but it's enjoyable nonetheless. If "Ash" had a guitar solo, it would easily be in my top 3 Demon Hunter songs list. As it is, it's riff is one of the best modern Thrash riffs not made by Trivium.
A Great Start For The Musical Year
War is wonderful! They decided to make two albums, one softer and one harder, to compensate diehard fans who may have hated their masterpiece, Outlive. What a concept! War is very brutal, with only On My Side and Grey Matter not having screaming in them. Leave Me Alone almost does, but then it comes in. Materially, War is very solid, with the near-boogie metal of Close Enough and the eerie closer Lesser Gods. The lyrics are as intelligent as ever, and one song, Ash, invokes The World Is A Thorn in aggression. For those who feared they were going soft, War is testament to Demon Hunter's integrity. Good rockin'!
Well they finally made a bad album(s)
Love demon hunter been listening to them since summer of darkness.
They rarely disappoint but after 17 years they finally made a bad album.
War has some decent songs on it mainly the first three but the rest of the album seems thrown together. The better of the twos albums for sure.
Peace is terrible every song is a ballad worse then the one before.
Every other demon hunter album has 1-2 slow songs ballads and it worked and that’s what made them special and unique with the exception of loneliness the rest of the album just sounds boring and thoughtless .
Have a listen if you must but peace is horrible and war is not far behind.
Guess was bound to happen eventually. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way about the new album.
They keep making it interesting. Even though it's the same style, both the vocals and instrumentals are different enough to where it feels like you've never heard anything like it.
A little disappointing, but not bad by any means. I really love “On My Side” and “Close Enough”. “Grey Matter”, “Cut to Fit”, and “The Negative” are pretty good to, but the rest is just “meh” compared to Demon Hunter’s other music.
This is a very great album! If you're into hard rock/metal, definitely get it!
